Solomon Islands Earthquake - 6.8 Magnitude

Today, at about 8:40 P.M., a 6.8-magnitude earthquake was reportedly struck Solomon Islands. This has been confirmed by U.S. Geological Survey or USGS this Sunday, April 11, 2010 where epicenter points to about 100-kilometer west of San Cristobal and about 200-kilometer from the south-east of Guadalcanal, Solomon Islands.

For now, there's is no casualties reported and no tsunami warning has been issued the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center based on Hawaii because of this strong earth tremor, this can already cause a large wave that might struck a small islands on the nearby lands.

Solomon Islands is composed of about 1000 islands in Melanesia region with a 28,400-square kilometer land mass. The capital city was found on Guadalcanal which is called Honiara. More updates to come after this break.
